
St Johnsbury Town Meeting Approves Spending Requests and School Board Election Results

St. Johnsbury voters gave a thumbs up to all spending requests during Town Meeting voting Tuesday and elected Brittany Benoit Petty to the school board in the only contested race on the ballot. In results provided by Town Clerk Stacy Jewell shortly after polls closed, the school budget passed by a vote of 663 to 483. In the race for a 2-year seat on the school board, Petty defeated Callahan Beck by a vote of 558 to 453. She will join Kelsey Stavseth, who was the only candidate for a 3-year seat, as new members on the school board.

Irasburg Road Blocked by Overturned Tractor Trailer

Traffic was snarled in Irasburg Wednesday after an overturned tractor-trailer blocked part of the road. A witness says it happened at the intersection of Guyette Road and Lake Region Road. There was no immediate word from police on what caused the crash or if anyone was injured.
