A two-vehicle crash on February 28 on I-89 South in Brookfield totaled a car driven by an Albany man. The 9:38 a.m. accident occurred as State Police troopers from the Berlin barracks and members of the Brookfield Fire Department were at the scene of an unrelated motor vehicle crash at the location. According to State Police, a flatbed wrecker operated by Tyson Wescot, 21, of Wilder, entered the area at reported highway speeds and failed to follow the direction of emergency personnel, who had their emergency lights activated in the right lane of I-89 South. The flatbed wrecker rear-ended a vehicle operated by Gerald Peters, 75, of Albany. Peters’ Subaru Outback then struck a parked Brookfield fire engine before resting in the median.
